Using Conflict Creatively

Innovation requires conflict.  Performance peaks when we are challenged. Yet, with tight resources, rapidly changing technology, and multiple generations in the work place, a delicate balance is required to use conflict creatively before it gets destructive.

Karen Valencic will facilitate blending martial arts and science to demonstrate how conflict can be used in a creative way.  Attendees will leave with a fresh perspective about conflict and skills to practice everyday.

The teaching style includes visual demonstrations, interactive exercises, light physical movement, and lecture.  All learning styles are addressed in the program making it ideal for all types of learners.  Enhanced leadership skills and the ability to cope with change are natural by-products of this program.

  • Diffuse potential destructive conflicts
  • Stay calm and maintain perspective amidst chaos

The Power to Get It Done with Grace

Can you push something toward you?  No!  Pushing is away.  Why keep on pushing to make things happen?  Instead, learn to harness the power of a spiral and realize outcomes with grace and ease.

Karen Valencic will facilitate blending her experience in performance improvement, leadership development, martial arts and science.  Attendees will leave with a fresh perspective about how to approach any situation and skills to practice everyday.

The ability to cope with continual change is a natural by-product of this program. In this short introduction, participants will learn skills to:

Moving into the Future with Ease

Energy, influence, and balance are either increased or diminished with every interaction you have – whether with a person, event or ‘thing.’ In this session you will learn to get the most from your interactions.

Karen Valencic will facilitate blending martial arts and science to demonstrate how to interact with less energy and more results.  Attendees will leave with a fresh perspective and skills to practice everyday.

The teaching style includes visual demonstrations, interactive exercises, light physical movement, and lecture.  All learning styles are addressed in the program making it ideal for all types of learners.  Enhanced leadership skills and the ability to cope with change are natural by-products of this program.

Participants will learn a method to:

  • Be creative in conflict situations – solve problems
  • Influence others
  • Maintain momentum on projects to completion
  • Diffuse potential conflicts
  • Stay calm and maintain perspective amidst chaos
  • Increase focused energy – decrease burnout

 

Note:  The content of these sessions are very similar just depends on how we ‘package’ and focus them.  Session title may also be created to match theme of conference.

General Outline:

1.  Opening – introduce the Spiral Impact methodology – simply the difference between forcing a result and processing with ease
2.  Vision Path – Explore the way participants interact with anything they are challenged with and the result of those interactions,  large group process
3. The Power of Inquiry – Aikido Model -  Demonstrate a way to interact which “blends with” rather than “attacks against”
4.  Focus and Balance – Share the concept of centering for increased balance and perspective; participants experiment in pairs
5. Intention – Present “Levels of Intention” and have participants refer back to their “Vision Path” and define those levels; discussion of values
6. Support – Discuss how to support ones self and each other to use above concepts
